As a key member of the Regional Leadership team, the Regional Finance Manager works closely with the Regional Leadership team and location leadership teams in the Ontario Region to ensure the financial integrity and risk management of the regional business.
This position interacts with the Credit Manager and the Business Unit (BU) Accounting Managers, and acts as a business partner and financial steward. In this position, you will also be responsible for the coaching and development of the finance and admin teams in the facilities with key accountabilities to the standardization and efficiency of the administration function.

Accountabilities:
30% – Responsible for the financial integrity of the regional business. Understand and monitor the key business measures for the region, and affect the change needed to ensure financial goals are met. Identify and take action to mitigate potential risks associated with business activities, processes and programs. Understand financial and commercial aspects of the regional business well enough to be able to work with the regional teams to run a secure and profitable business, offering innovative solutions to meet individual customer needs. Through effective and efficient processes, ensure the regional strategy is in line with the Business Unit’s strategy, and is in place to meet the regional budget. Ensure the financial initiatives and tactics are included in the regional business plan and ensure execution. Actively champion the strategy, and collaborate with leadership team and functional teams to lead that strategy to success.

20% – Execute established standardized processes.
Ensure standardized commercial procedures are communicated, understood and implemented consistently.
Accountable for ensuring standardized processes are documented and championed by regional staff.
Responsible for identifying opportunities and work on initiatives to implement effective and efficient standardized processes for the BU.
Understand sales initiatives and communicating the processes and goals to ensure accurate financial recording of the transactions and optimal customer experience.

20% – Anticipate information needed by the region to make the best financial decisions. 
Use reporting tools, analyze financial data and bring financial solutions to the regional team.
Anticipate questions and be the regional resource on PnL interpretation, providing sound advice on cost cutting or revenue opportunities.

20% – Provide support on staffing decisions for the region. 
Have direct involvement with hiring, training, coaching and performance & development for regional staff in their area of expertise.
Be accountable for coaching the team in financial integrity and peak efficiency on all financial operations.

10% – Provide an environment that fosters a Customer 
First approach to leadership within the region.
Be an advocate for the customer, and liaison between functional groups and Customer Service Administrators to ensure tools are in place to create a great customer experience.

Skills:
Required:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent combination of education and work experience Minimum 3 years accounting experience 
  • Ability to travel to locations within the region approximately 40% of the time 
  • Proficient in MS office, especially excel 
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills 
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to internal control 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Strong business partnering skills and proven leadership skills Supervisory experience 
  • Self motivated 
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis  

Preferred:
 Accounting designation. Knowledge of the Grain Industry Experience with JDE and PeopleSoft Motivated for continuous improvement
