Responsibilities
   
Working in the context of a research-based demonstration laboratory school, the Lab School Teacher is expected to facilitate the learning and development of young children in the London community attending the Lab School, to support the learning experiences of university students from the Western community, and to demonstrate excellence in early childhood education to the academic and professional community.

Effective September 1, 2013, the Lab School teacher will function as one of a team of 4-5 full time teachers, a Resource Teacher, the Director and Assistant to the Director.  The lab School teacher works directly with a team teacher or two, teaching two to five classes per week of anywhere from 10-24 children, depending on the classes s/he is assigned to teach for the year.

In addition, the Lab School Teacher will participate in a one-hour curriculum-planning meeting each week, and attend the September Open House, half-day monthly teacher meetings, 2-3 evening parent meetings, and the Year-End Family Picnic.


Qualifications
   
Education:
-   University Degree in a related field such as developmental psychology or family studies
-   Early Childhood Education Diploma, or equivalent

Experience:
-   Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in the early years; more than 5 years experience preferred
-   Experience team teaching

Skills & Expertise:
-   Ability to mentor undergraduate university students completing practicum placements
-   Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, oral and written
-   Exceptional organizational skills
-   Interest in research and being in an an academic setting
-   Views self as a teacher and a learner as reflected in documented high-caliber professional development experiences
