Job Description:Toronto Public Library is one of the world’s busiest urban public libraries. Its 98-branch system plays a vital role in shaping Toronto’s social and economic health. Toronto Public Library Foundation exists to raise awareness and funds to support Toronto’s Library in achieving its strategic goals to: grow a city of readers; develop a city of learners; connect a city of creators; and deliver excellent library service.
This is an exciting time to be at the Foundation. Since its inception in 1998, the Foundation has raised over $59 million in support of Library fundraising priorities. The highly successful re:vitalize - Toronto Reference Library Campaign exceeded its $10 million fundraising target and, building on a proud history of community support, annual fundraising continues to grow.
Innovative partnerships established by the Foundation include: the TD Summer Reading Club, a multi-year, $1.925 million commitment that has grown from a local to a national initiative; and the Sun Life Financial Museum & Arts Pass program, a $400,000 multi-year cash commitment that, since its inception in 2007, has enabled over 600,000 participants to explore the best of Toronto's arts and cultural treasures for free. Signature legacy gifts - like that from long-time library-lover Sophia Lucyk - provide enhanced funding to support such priorities as the development of early literacy, creativity, and writing skills in young children. Urgent Library needs currently being supported through the Foundation’s efforts include improved and expanded collections, enhanced programs and services, upgraded technology, and revitalized community spaces.
