Job overview:
The Child & Youth Services Department at Eastlink Centre is looking for individuals who have experience working with children. A positive approach to play and play based learning is a must. Successful candidates will take ultimate pride in their work, will be prepared to work with children ages 6 months and up in our Drop-in Playcare as well as assisting in recreation programs and day camps. Successful applicants will clearly understand the commitment it takes to be a positive role model to children and their families. Successful candidate will be working the hours of operation for Child & Youth Services.
Main responsibilities:
• Be a part of an energetic team devoted to the social, physical, emotional, intellectual, and creative development of children.
• Involved and assisting in implementing and maintaining a fun, safe, interactive play environment for participants.
• Prioritize work to handle multiple tasks. Engage children aged 6 months and up with age. appropriate, learn through play activities in child centred programming and activities.
• Responsibility to the employee H&S Program and other Eastlink Centre or City of GP initiatives.
• Flexibility and availability for special events.
Qualifications:
• Introductory to Early Childhood and or High Five Training Principles of Healthy Child Development
• Experience with children.
• Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, AED
• Minimum age of 18 years to apply
• Criminal Record Checks including vulnerable sector and Child Intervention Check clearance
• Understanding and compassion meeting the unique needs of children ages 6 months and up.
• The ability to have fun, to play actively and enthusiastically with child directed activities, experiences, and themes.
• The ability to present yourself in a positive and professional manner through tactful communication (both verbal and written) with co-workers, participants and parents.
• Be self-motivated and flexible, organizing your work to maintain tasks within established standards and timelines.
• An appreciation for diversity in co-workers, participants and families.
• The desire to be a positive role model to the families and participants in our facility.
• The confidence to make on the spot decisions and the ability to adapt quickly to the ever changing environment based on group dynamics.

Hours of work:
Minimum of one hour per week to a maximum of forty hours per week hours of work are designated by the supervisor in order to operate Child & Youth Services.
