Cargill Foodservice North America (CFNA) is an integrated selling organization established to enable Cargill to grow quicker and more profitably in NA industry. Our purpose is to connect foodservice customers to the world of Cargill. Our sales professionals work across 10 BU’s in 2 platforms on behalf of Beef, CVAM-retail, CVAM-foodservice, Pork, DS&O, SS&O, Salt, and CKS. We offer over 1100 standard products, 500 custom-made products, and cross-sell multiple product categories to national chains, regional chains, targeted segments and regional operators. The environment is complex, dynamic and full of opportunity for Cargill to become the partner of choice to this large segment of customers.
As the Sales Manager you will be responsible for developing and executing a strategy for assigned enterprise-level, national account, and regional customers that will drive volume, growth, product lines, and contribution margin, as well as maximize opportunities for the customers and Cargill.
This will require collaboration across 6 Cargill’s BU’s and functions to execute on tactical and long-term opportunities and identify and match customer needs to Cargill’s capabilities.
You will be the customer’s advocate within Cargill and serve as the primary point of contact by representing the best interest of Cargill with a focus on the customer.
You must demonstrate excellent coordination and facilitation of cross-business initiatives, leadership through influence, effective resource management, follow up and communication skills; work with the CFNA Canada sales team to develop the Canadian market for growth in all product lines represented by Cargill.
You will partner with the Canada Sales Leader to recommend ongoing strategic direction for growth of Cargill products and recommend the strategic direction for the country.
Principal Accountabilities:
45% Direct overall sales efforts for select accounts to drive solutions and cultivate deeper relationships. Drive sales strategies and objectives for dedicated accounts.
20% Develop and maintain multi-level relationships to better understand customer objectives and provide relevant CFNA solutions. Team with CFNA sales leadership to understand strategic needs of customers and determine how CFNA can help the customer move forward.
15% Partner with enterprise customer leaders to develop and facilitate 1-3-5 year strategic plan for assigned BU’s and customers.
10% Promote the customer within CFNA and collaborate with internal BU partners to discover approach and solutions.
10% Present CFNA solutions to customers and influence customers to make purchase commitments based on Cargill’s distinctive value. Maintain appropriate margin contribution by adhering to pricing principles.
Skills:
Required:
10+ years of sales account management experience
Experience in a sales role managing a large, complex customer with the ability to develop and execute a strategic sales plan
Strong conceptual thinking and time management skills
Strong communication/presentation and organizational skills and ability to interact at all levels of an organization
Leadership and initiative
Strong understanding of customer development and ability to develop custom solutions for customers
Ability to work independently with minimal direction, proven ability to meet sales goals
Computer proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree
5+years of experience in the foodservice industry working with national accounts, regional chains or large distribution customers
Past experience with other Cargill foodservice products (ex: value-added meats, Beef, Pork, eggs, dressings & oils)
Experience managing a $75 – $100 million account
Risk management/commodity market experience
Strong project management skills
Experience working on R&D projects
Indirect influence and experience managing and working with a virtual team
Sales Effectiveness or other sales training
Bilingual English/French
