 Advertisement for Paradise Valley Manager    Sunhaven Farms is currently looking for a Farm Manager to oversee our gilt breeding operation in East Central Alberta. This farm is the cornerstone of a specialised parity segregation production system and boasts a modern open pen gestation system based on ESF’s and straw bedding. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operations of an offsite nursery, an offsite finisher, and a gilt breeding and farrowing barn. The Paradise Valley Manager will be responsible for:

    Overseeing a continuous gilt breeding program including raising F1’s from to isowean to breeding weight
    Farrowing production of gilt offspring to the isowean stage.
    Manage sales logistics of bred Parity 1’s to customers of Paradise Valley
    Training new staff
    Selecting optimal replacement stock
    Achieving farm production and cost targets
    Managing a staff of 8-9 people.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have between 3-5 years in pork production and have management experience.
Experience with Electronic Sow Feeding (ESF) and managing in a straw based gestation environment would also be considered an asset but not a requirement.
 An agricultural diploma and experience in multiplication production would be considered an asset but not a requirement.
 A valid driver’s license and the ability to do physical work are required.
 Candidates must be highly motivated, possess a sound knowledge of all aspects of pig production, together with a proven ability to lead and organize staff.
