Based in Kingston, Ontario, You will be responsible for the entire product for the Innovia Metro. You will work with the sales department on the pre bid or white book phase, early phase of our project, define and make the right choice for the product planning. Have a good understanding of the market, what is the need there and technical specifics, what are the technical requirements that lead to a specific product.
In your role you will:
- Together with Marketing and with inputs from Sales, you will determine current and potential market situation and define requirements for current and future competitive products within a delimited market segment. You will take product ownership such as cost target, reliability, maintainability, performance, comfort, appearance. , Establish a competitive product strategy and multi-generation roadmap to be able to scope and direct the technology and product development program towards a profitable growth of Bombardier market share within the given product-market segment, taking into account emerging legislations, technologies in materials and systems, market trends, competition, and cost improvement opportunities;
- Drive a solution set across development teams evaluating every opportunity to develop platforms and directs development efforts in this direction when appropriate to improve profitability, efficiency and customer satisfaction. Identify most efficient means of financing development activities and of leveraging Bombardier relationships with suppliers and government agencies to share development costs and activities;
- Communicate clearly to Marketing and Sales the attributes and cost positioning of the product and support White and Blue book activities and bring Management attention on the cost and performance consequences of any requested changes to the product or product portfolio;
- establish the cost targets settings, time-to-market and performance of the product or product platform, the incumbent tracks cost and LCC cost evolution of the product to ensure cost and LCC cost are aligned with the market by recommending and follow-up improvement actions in areas such as cost, reliability, availability and maintainability performances and obsolescence management;
- Ensure consistency, synergy, re-use and knowledge transfer between the projects while driving continuous improvement of the product through lessons learned, FRACAS (field data analysis), customer feedback, etc. Owner of the Product documentation (Generic BOM, drawings, technical documents) the incumbent ensures they are updated and managed according to Product/Product Platform strategy. Provide leadership for on-going system and component modularization and standardization initiatives within and between product platforms and guidance to production technology evolutions and sourcing strategies. Manage the product certification;
- Conduct regular product reviews with MPP, Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing and Finance aimed at measuring progress against the development roadmap and market penetration, ensuring that all areas contribute the latest expertise and are in return fully informed of the latest status;
- Manage and lead the R&D projects that are associated to this product.
Qualifications
As our ideal candidate:
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a Technical background;
- You have experience working in the rail industry;
- You possess a minimum of ten (10) years of experience either as a Project Manager or a Product Manager;
- Have a good understanding of the market
- You have strong experience in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering;
- You are proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite;
- Your English communication skills are excellent.
Additional information: The incumbent of this position must be available for 20% occasional traveling, domestic and international.
