Amberfield Farms, located in Stewart Valley, SK, is hiring a Production Manager.
In this position, you’ll manage the farm’s production process, including crop monitoring from pre-seed to post-harvest, fertilization, seed selection, and forecasting crop production to achieve the company’s goals and financial targets.
Responsibilities:
  •     Performs pre-seed in crop, and pre- and post-harvest field scouting.
  •     Provides crop protection recommendations.
  •     Coordinates field operation timing with managers, including seeding, spraying, and harvest.
  •     Performs soil and tissue testing for management zones and provides fertility recommendations.
  •     Completes record keeping for scouting, recommendations, and field operations.
  •     Attends agronomic and production meetings, seminars, and field days.
  •     Maintains and builds business relationships with suppliers, customers, and business partners.
  •     Creates a forecast for needed crop protection supplies from previous records.
  •     Tenders forecasted needs of crop inputs to multiple suppliers and negotiates terms.
  •     Maintains product inventory during the growing season to ensure product is always readily available for equipment.
  •     Researches and selects seed varieties for each crop.
  •     Calculates seed required and purchases from suppliers.
  •     Maintains records for trial activities, including labour, equipment, and supplies.
  •     Creates, monitors, and maintains field operation record books, including, drill, sprayer, truck, roller, and water truck.
  •     Trains new operators on equipment, including air drills, sprayers, and combines.
  •     Manages GPS software, including updates, and field boundaries.

Qualifications:
  •     A minimum of three years’ farm management or equivalent experience.
  •     Ag related education.
  •     Results orientated with excellent verbal and written communication and leadership skills.
  •     Advanced computer skills and strong knowledge of farm-based software is an asset.
  •     Agricultural tools expertise.
  •     Ability to manage crop production, budgets, programs and schedules.
  •     Extremely personable and superior customer-service skills.
