Job Summary:
Working alongside other Banking Services Representatives (BSRs) covering the overnight operations, you provide collateral, payment and settlement services through the Canadian Depository for Securities (CDSX) and the Large Value Transfer System (LVTS) to settle foreign exchange transactions on behalf of the Continuous Linked Settlement (CLS) Bank. Owing to the criticality of the operations, BSRs working the overnight shift must develop expertise in contingency procedures and participate in regular proprietary and system-wide testing
Central Responsibilities:
• process, monitor, control and balance a variety of payments, settlement and securities transactions for clients to meet strict deadlines throughout the night
• participate in the ongoing development and testing of contingency procedures related to overnight business activities
• participate in a self-managed, team-based environment with increased responsibility resulting from minimal technical support and management supervision
• analyze business processes, training and problem resolution
• work in an operations-oriented, team-based environment with a strong client focus
Key Requirements:
• bachelor’s degree in commerce or business and a minimum of one year of relevant work experience processing payments and securities transactions for clients
or
• relevant college diploma (e.g., accounting) and a minimum of two years of relevant work experience processing payments and securities transactions for clients
or
• a minimum of three years of relevant work experience processing payments and securities transactions for clients
in addition
• English or French essential
• good understanding of the banking environment, including payment and settlement services and collateral administration
• general understanding of accounting principles
• good analytical and problem-solving skills
• ability to gather and resolve discrepancies in information
• ability to multi-task and make sound decisions and recommendations
• demonstrated ability to organize work and set priorities to ensure that production schedules and deadlines are met
• ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimum supervision
• strong interpersonal and communication skills
• good understanding of banking operations, contingency measures, business continuity and disaster recovery plans
Assets:
• functional in second official language
• experience with SWIFT and software (Excel, Word, etc.)
• good knowledge of Canada’s financial systems, including the CDSX and LVTS
• familiarity with an operational work environment and computerized applications
Notes:
• Condition of employment: Candidate must be eligible for secret status clearance.

• The work schedule for the overnight shifts consists of three 12.5-hour evenings from 23:00 to noon. However, in special circumstances, consideration would be given to four 9.5-hour evenings from 23:00 to 09:00 or five 7.5-hour evenings from 23:00 to 07:00. Staff working the overnight shift, outside of the Bank’s core hours of 07:00 to 18:00, are eligible for a shift premium of $2.00/hour.
