Cargill Grain and Oilseeds Supply Chain (GOSC) is currently constructing a new canola processing plant in Camrose, AB which will produce canola oil and meal. Canola oil is used as a healthy vegetable oil in salad oils, as well as in frying and processed food applications. Canola meal is a high protein feed product used by the livestock industry.

This $254 million new construction project and plant requires an EHS Site Coordinator.   During the build phase of the plant you will primarily focus on construction safety and regulatory compliance as well as setting up and implementing safety programs for the new plant.

Upon completion of the build, which is anticipated to take two years, you will you will provide support across the facility in managing the efforts required to comply with EHS regulatory requirements and Corporate EHS expectations.  This position will report to the Facility Leader.

Principle Accountabilities:
30% Manage health and safety related plans, programs and procedures
     Plan the development/improvement and implementation of safety programs including training programs
    Prepare and present safety audits (overall responsibility Corporate, OSHA, or other Safety Audits)
    Measure performance through tracking and reporting to the Business Unit and Corporate level
    Determine safety priorities for location

 30% EHS regulatory analysis and compliance management
    Track compliance, with ultimate responsibility for leading implementation of new regulations at local level
    Support delivery of usable guidance and compliance plans to location on existing and new regulations
    Support and confirm implementation of compliance plans

20% EHS record keeping and reporting
    Manage all EHS related record keeping and reporting

15% Management of EHS task database
    Task updates assigned and completion tracked.  Overall responsibility for compliance with all assigned tasks
    Train new users
    Performance tracking and reporting

5% Manage Workers Compensation process
    Act as the location contact for insurance company interface
    Manage all work comp case’s with goal of managing care for the employee and cost for the location

This position will be based in Camrose, Alberta; however, it may require intermittent travel out of province for training purposes.

Skills:
Required:

  •     Technical diploma and a minimum 2 years EHS experience in a manufacturing or processing industry OR 4 years of industrial experience
  •     Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and ensure that plans, guidance and advice is accurate, timely and effective
  •     Ability to quickly gather and analyze facts and input from all stakeholders, provide clear guidance and build consensus on solutions, and be able to customize for specific locations & unique circumstances
  •     Must be effective at interacting with regulators (moderate to low contact), plant superintendents and supervisors (high contact), other plant personnel (moderate to high contact), attorneys (low contact) and consultants (moderate to low contact)
  •     Effective written and verbal communication skills
  •     Demonstrated understanding of technical requirements associated with job duties.
  •     Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
 Preferred:
    EHS Auditor experience     
    Behavior Based Safety experience
