With annual revenues of $1.9 billion and representing 4,100 Ontario dairy farm businesses, Dairy Farmers of Ontario is the province’s largest agricultural marketing organization. In its production, transportation, and marketing roles, this not-for-profit organization is an essential partner in the Canadian dairy industry. Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Specialist is primarily responsible foreffectively communicating DFO’s message to dairy farmers, industry, government and other stakeholders.

Daily responsibilities include,
      writing, creating layouts and distribution of various publications, including weekly and monthly publications, brochures, factsheets, etc.; responding to consumer and general inquiries through emails, phone calls and written requests for information regarding DFO programs, milk products, quality concerns, etc.; and identifying public relations opportunities.

This challenging and constantly evolving position has the following requirements and qualifications:
    University or postsecondary education, preferably in Communications, Public Relations and/or Journalism;
    Minimum 3 years work experience in the communications field;
    Experience using social media professionally;
    Demonstrated ability to write a variety of texts;
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign;
    Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite considered an asset;
    Dairy industry knowledge considered an asset.
