Cargill Grain and Oilseeds Supply Chain's 4,500 tonne per day canola processing plant in Clavet, SK is the largest softseed plant in North America. Saskatchewan accounts for 45 percent of Canadian canola production. The processing facility produces canola oil and specialty canola oils as well as canola meal for the domestic North American and world markets. Canola oil is a healthy vegetable oil used in salad oil, frying and processed food applications. Canola meal is a high protein feed product used by the livestock industry.

Position Overview:

As the Elevator Operator based out of our canola seed processing plant in Clavet, SK and reporting to the Elevator Supervisor, you will be responsible for the accurate grading of canola seeds on samples from trucks and railcars, as well as operating and maintaining equipment associated with the elevator process. You will also interact on a regular basis with our seed customers, crush operators, supervisors, and other personnel.

Principal Accountabilities:

    Determine grade and dockage of samples and process samples utilizing lab equipment to obtain and record values
    Operate all equipment associated with the elevator process including drags, conveyors, scales, rail unload, and truck dump
    Ensure accurate information of scale weights and transactions are recorded daily
    Unload seed from rail cars, and operate railcar puller to move rail cars and to open and close railcars
    Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment utilized by facility; determine immediate and long range needs for maintenance and repair work, perform minor maintenance, and enter work orders utilizing maintenance computer program
    Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental impact of the operation and attend various mandatory safety and department meetings
    Assist other crush and plant personnel as needed, and perform any other duty as requested by the Elevator Supervisor


Required:

    Completion of high school diploma or equivalent
    Excellent customer service skills
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and follow-up
    Working knowledge or ability to learn computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Maximo or related CMMS system
    Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and open/close rail car gates
    Ability to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, etc., and to work in elevated areas of the plant
    Ability to work in an outdoor, dusty environment
    Available to work rotating 8 hr shifts, including nights, overtime, weekends, holidays, and additional hours beyond regularly scheduled shift

Preferred:

    Previous experience working in an industrial environment
