As the Facility Supervisor & Business Unit (BU) EHS Coordinator you will manage responsibilities both locally and across the BU. You will handle the facility maintenance responsibilities as well as the BU EHS responsibilities. You will also be the technical liaison on EHS efforts working directly with the BU Safety leader and Corporate EHS to ensure the BU is taking necessary steps with measurements to keep the program relevant.


Principal Accountabilities:

40% - Perform responsibilities of the Facility Supervisor

    Develop and manage a preventive maintenance program for the Aberdeen Research and Production Centre including selection, auditing, and training for external 3rd party contractors such as electricians and technicians, and coordinate those contractors
    Perform basic maintenance as needed and work with facility users to ensure a safe, efficient, useful workplace
    Manage different facility expansion/upgrade projects
    Complete special projects including site improvements and other duties as required

40% - Perform responsibilities of the BU EHS Coordinator for all BU field/farm activities

    Develop, implement and manage a farm/field safety program for SS&O's field activities (Canada, US, Contra season) to address Cargill's Corporate Safety Program and inherent risks
    Be an active part of the EHS team in Aberdeen by
        Auditing contractors for compliance to SS&O's and Cargill corporate safety rules
        Developing and implementing effective safety programs for temporary employees
        Supporting Focus on Life program and SIF Analysis for all tasks

20% - Perform responsibilities of SS&O EHS Subject Matter Expert and corporate liaison on all activities

    Act as the technical liaison to Corporate EHS to ensure access and proper implementation of all available tools, documents, and trainings
    Provide corporate guidance and support to SS&O EHS coordinators, safety committees and function leads at different sites including acting as BU resource for all EHS specific questions and participating and providing guidance on Safety Lead Committee
    Actively develop the BU EHS plan with the BU Safety Lead and support implementation
    Provide auditing and compliance assistance at all SS&O locations
    Measure performance and track and report results to the BU Safety Lead

Skills:

Required:

    Post-secondary degree and 3 years of experience in EHS and facility management OR 7 years of EHS and facility management experience
    Proven skills to lead a BU safety program
    Working knowledge of EHS rules and regulations
    Experience or knowledge of facility systems controls, heating and cooling, electrical and structures
    Understanding of environmental compliance and safety issues related to farming operations
    Ability to coach and work directly with local EHS coordinators and supervisors in SS&O
    Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and ensure that plans, guidance and advice is accurate, timely and effective
    Ability to quickly gather and analyze facts and input from all stakeholders, provide clear guidance and build consensus on solutions and be able to customize for specific locations and unique circumstances
    Ability to travel to SS&O sites
    Ability to work outdoors and in dusty environments
    Ability to lift 50 lbs
    Possession of a valid driver's license

Preferred:

    Post-secondary degree in Environmental studies or Engineering
    2 years in a supervisory role in a fast paced environment
    Advanced knowledge of facility construction
    Experience with contractor sourcing, supervision, and safety
    Shop skills including basic metal fabrication including cutting, welding and machine design
