Cargill Value Added Meats - Food Service operates a chicken processing plant in London, ON, a hatchery in Jarvis, ON, and ground beef processing facilities in Brampton, ON, and Spruce Grove, AB employing approximately 1200 employees.

As the Maintenance Electrician based out of our beef processing facility in Brampton, ON, you will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and primarily be responsible for ensuring optimum asset health by maintaining, repairing, inspecting and modifying mechanical equipment in a safe and cost effective manner. You will also troubleshoot the electrical and mechanics of the equipment and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and interact with outside contractors and collaborate with the General Manager, Supervisors, Plant Superintendent and Unionized stakeholders.

This position is primarily an afetrnoon shift (Monday to Friday - 3:30 to 12:00am)

Principal Accountabilities:

25% - Perform scheduled or breakdown reactive corrective maintenance on facility assets
15% - Perform scheduled preventive and predictive machine repairs
15% - Troubleshoot PLCs/Robotic and automated equipment
10% - Troubleshoot machinery and automation failures as necessary on case erector, filler, palletizer, conveyors, motor control devices, control panels, PLCs, input sensing devices such as limit switches and photo sensors
10% - Other projects and activities as assigned
10% - Maintain total awareness and ensure compliance to Cargill's safety policy
10% - Readily available for various shifts and overtime when necessary
5% - Update and maintain record keeping of maintenance documents

Skills:

Required:

Possession of Industrial Electrician (442A / 309A) certificate / Millwright (433A) Certificate
2 years experience within an industrial maintenance environment
Proven strong communication skills - written and verbal
Strong organization, planning and problem solving skills
Strong work ethic and a desire to be part of a high performing team
Adaptable to work in a fast paced environment
Must be flexible with schedule of working hours and workdays
Ability to work in temperature controlled environments, various work conditions (noise, odors) and around raw meat products
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a non-temporary basis

Preferred:
Related work experience in a food processing industry
