JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Plant Manager the Maintenance Technician will assist in keeping the plant running at peak performance. This role will maintainthat the proper stock levels of spare parts, and follow both preventative maintenance and major equipment maintenance schedules are up to date and maintained. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain plant preventative maintenance plan;
Daily maintenance on equipment as it relates to process and packaging as well as other support equipment throughout the feed manufacturing facility;
Strong mechanical aptitude required and ability to perform maintenance tasks;
Must demonstrate a strong attitude to working in a safe manner, to follow strict safety procedures as well ensure that co-workers are following safety policies during maintenance procedures;
Be willing to work at various heights;
Must work within established HACCP procedures;
Must be willing to work with production staff, interact with supervisors and work well with outside contractors, service technicians and engineers.
PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA:
Must have strong mechanical background, certification in boiler operation or other related maintenance field required;
Familiarity with processing equipment and packaging equipment in a feed manufacturing facility an asset;
Ability to work with minimum supervision, and have strong organizational skills;
Able to be on call and possible overtime as required, particularly during the maintenance off shift hours and on weekends;
Strong knowledge of applicable safety requirements and ability to follow safety policies and procedures;
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
