Cargill AgHorizons is the division of the company dedicated to creating value for agricultural producers, specifically grain and oilseed growers in the Prairies and Ontario.
This division leads the industry in providing innovations in the areas of grain origination, agronomic and grain marketing consulting, and crop input supplies.
Professionally trained customer focus teams work one-on-one with their producer customers, building long-term relationships-striving to understand their farming business and providing distinctive solutions, matched to their unique needs.
As an Agronomic Advisor, you are accountable for generating consulting revenues and managing and delivering agronomic consulting services as part of our lead with Distinctive Value Solutions strategy.
You will work directly with the sales and consulting team to provide agronomic and crop production solutions for our farm customers.
By providing superior technical information and consulting service, you will help our farm customers make the best decisions for their business. These services will differentiate Cargill AgHorizons from our competitors, leading to stronger business relationships with our customers, and in turn, resulting in incremental sales and margin opportunities for Cargill.
Principal Accountabilities:
55% - Manage and deliver comprehensive agronomy services (e.g. CropSense, FieldSense and AgSensePro) to help farm customers grow better crops through making sound crop production and risk management decisions in the areas of precise agriculture, crop planning, nutrient, weed, disease, insect and harvest management
25% - In coordination with the Sales Representative, sell agronomy services to farm customers in order to achieve revenue budgets; work with the Sales Representatives and location teams to identify and prospect Agronomy Service customers
10% - Provide leadership, direction and training to Agronomic Interns; coach and share best practices with other Agronomic Advisors
10% - Provide technical support and be an agronomic resource for the location team; attend crop input supplier meetings, facilitate workshops, and provide input for crop reports and crop input strategies
Skills:
Required:
Degree in Agronomy or related discipline OR diploma in Agronomy or related discipline plus equivalent work experience
Minimum 1 year of field and industry experience
Strong sales aptitude
Technically sound in agronomy
Strong customer-service focus with the ability to develop long term relationships with customers based on technical knowledge and trust
Ability to influence decision-making
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills
Eligible for membership with the Provincial Institute of Agrologists (future requirement will be to obtain CCA accreditation)
Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis
Preferred:
Strong understanding of Agronomic Services, farm customers and the agriculture industry
Strong understanding of the crop inputs business and the significance of supplier relationships
Solid understanding of the Canadian agricultural production and farm management
