Cargill AgHorizons is the division of the company dedicated to creating value for agricultural producers, specifically grain and oilseed growers in the Prairies and Ontario.
This division leads the industry in providing innovations in the areas of grain origination , agronomic and grain marketing consulting, and crop input supplies.
Professionally trained customer focus teams work one-on-one with their producer customers, building long-term relationships-striving to understand their farming business and providing distinctive solutions, matched to their unique needs.

As a Sales Representative, you are accountable for generating revenue for a Farm Service Center.
You are a professional sales specialist who understands the value products and services Cargill provides will bring to our customers and can communicate that value to them.
You are a member of the location team with primary responsibility for managing long term business relationships with Cargill's farmer customers and identifying opportunities to help them succeed through the sales of grain and crop input solutions and consulting products.
You will understand the customers' preferred method of conducting business and work with them to gain a deep understanding of their business needs. You have an active interest in the business world and a desire to be recognized for success by peers and customers.

This position is an inside sales position, which means sales calls are conducted from the Cargill facility via phone or face-to-face meetings with the customers at the facility.
 
Principal Accountabilities:
70% - Work one-on-one with farmer customers in a defined geographic territory to build productive, long-term business relationships, and develop a comprehensive understanding of customers' business and manage the account to the benefit of the customer and Cargill; achieve Sales, Gross Margin and Revenue goals through planned sales calls that present solutions and value propositions to Cargill customers; manage the credit allocated to customers; and manage accounts receivables according to established policies

10% - Under the guidance of the Sales and Consulting Manager, develop, update, and communicate customer based sales plans that define individual sales and margin objectives with a budget

10% - Actively participate in weekly location customer focus team meetings, monthly location safety meetings, and regional sales workshops; contribute innovative ideas for the group's benefit, and look for new opportunities in the marketplace; and participate in developing the Marketing Team's forecast for grain, crop inputs and program offerings

5% - Proactively increase knowledge of the agriculture industry, agronomy, grain marketing, and products and services Cargill offers in order to continuously improve the value they can bring to our customers; attend sales, marketing, and community relations activities such as grower meetings, supplier meetings, community events, and field tours

5% - Support administrative and operations staff from time to time to ensure that facilities provide superior customer service


Skills:
Required:

    Previous sales experience
    Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
    Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
    Persistence and resilience
    Ability to identify opportunities and prospects, build customer relationships and close sales
    Strong planning skills including the ability to target and analyze customer potential
    Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage time and set priorities
    Basic math, written communications, and computer skills
    Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis

Preferred:

    Post-secondary education or training in Business, Sales or Agriculture
    Understands the Canadian agricultural system including grain marketing, grain transportation and crop production practices
    Knowledge of grain and crop input products
    Knowledge of agronomic practices
    Knowledge of grain elevators and grain technology and equipment
    Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) software
    Potential to quality for CCA certification
    Ability to coach others
