This position involves moderately complex clerical and typing work in the Stenography Division of the Burnaby RCMP Detachment. An incumbent is responsible for work which involves initiative in planning the sequences of duties and the methods to be employed. An incumbent performs transcription duties using a variety of methods. Additional duties include word processing reports, letters, memos and forms. An incumbent enters members’ leave on computer (JUSTIN) and performs related duties as required. Additional duties may also include preparing and maintaining a variety of records and statistics. Performs other related work as required.

Qualifications include: 
high school graduation supplemented by rapid and accurate typing, word processing and commercial courses, plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of standard clerical procedures and the ability to use common office equipment. An incumbent should be able to use software programs including WordPerfect 12, Word, WAVpedal as well operate within JUSTIN. Sound knowledge of business English in written and oral form. Understanding of the functions, regulations and rules governing the Stenography department’s operations and activities. Ability to deal effectively with internal and external clients. The ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance is also required.
