Description:

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Director of Institutional Research will provide effective leadership and collaboration across the institution in the management and representation of NAIT’s institutional research function.  This position is integral to the analysis and metrics that demonstrate progress to achieving NAIT 2021 and its four promises.  The Director interacts regularly with the Executive Committee and the Ministry of Enterprise and Advanced Education, as well as other external organizations, providing key recommendations and supporting the collection, analysis, organization and reporting of data.


Responsibilities:

  •     Lead, manage and support the staff within the Institutional Research unit as well as provide direction, coordination and integration of activities throughout the organization such as within the academic programs, Financial Services, Registrar’s Office, IST, Facilities, and Human Resources.
  •     Support the analysis and reporting of metrics in the CIP, NAIT 2021 and other strategic frameworks.
  •     Provide credible advice and support on a one-on-one consultation basis or in the committee or task-specific group setting, based on technical knowledge and expertise as well as on the contextual information/knowledge of Institutional programs, operations and priorities.
  •     Support a culture of evidence-informed decision-making.
  •     Lead and approve the publication of reports and other presentations that reflect NAIT’s operations for internal and external audiences.
  •     Take an active role in qualitative and quantitative evaluations of NAIT operations in both academic and service units.  Use these analyses to support evidence-driven decision-making.
  •     Responsible for the quality of all research activities within the unit, setting standards for planning, long term modeling and forecasting, and implementing primary and secondary research.
  •     Manage and conduct recurring operational analysis in the realms of faculty workload analysis, student enrollment, student attrition, resource utilization etc. and direct similar efforts on the part of the professional and support staff within the unit.
  •     Organize the unit response to requests for corporate and program information that arise at all levels of the NAIT community and from external sources.
  •     Review and approve research proposals by external parties that seek to utilize data relating to NAIT students, staff or facilities.

Qualifications:
  •     Post-graduate degree or equivalent is required.  Consideration may be provided for a combination of educational credentials and experience.
  •     Extensive team-building, collaboration and leadership experience.
  •     Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  •     Strong analytical skills and manipulation of data.
