Position Description

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Senior Vice President & Chief Talent Officer, the Director, HR Operations will be responsible for the development, implementation and administration of four areas: HR Information Systems, HR Analytics, and Payroll Operations in a high-growth global environment.

Key priorities for this role include:
  HR Information Systems: The Director will manage strategy and operations for all HR systems, as well as the relationship with IT leadership in delivering on user needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the business side and integration of all HR Systems, including Workday (HRIS), PeopleFluent (ATS), compensation and payroll systems

   HR Analytics:  The Director will be responsible for metrics related to volumes, metrics, staffing, etc.,  and ensuring that quality standards are developed and applied to all HR transaction activities. The Director will develop correlations between hires, employee performance, retention, demographic and assessment data for data-driven decision making for all talent management at CPPIB, including overall organizational view and HR sub-functions (Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development, etc.), including engagement with other departments as appropriate (ie: Finance, IT).

  Payroll:  The Director will manage global payroll function, including regulatory compliance, monthly/quarterly/annual filings and reporting. The successful candidate will also develop and execute strategy for a growing payroll function.

    Develop a high-performing team. The Director will lead and continue to build the capabilities of a top tier HR Operations team of seven people.  He/she will understand employee and team motivation. The Director will continually work to upgrade team talent, execute strategy and influence at all levels of the organization. The Director will maintain documentation for all HR Operations procedures and internal controls, and develop procedures to continually identify process improvements related to the HR Operations team’s processes.

Position Requirements

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate will have in the range of 7 years experience in related management roles and 10 years experience in HRIS and Payroll systems.  Beyond professional designations and technical acumen, the successful candidate will be a proven people leader with experience in guiding and managing strong teams and building cross functional relationships.


Competencies

Based on the above, the candidate must demonstrate the following critical competencies:

 Strong Technical Skills – The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, with a thorough understanding of a variety of HR systems and a working knowledge of payroll business processes. This individual will demonstrate a mathematical aptitude, analysis skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbal and written.
People Management - An adept team manager with a proven track record of success in building an HR operations team, the successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to demonstrate different influencing styles as appropriate. The individual will have excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to effectively manage internal and external relationships and partnerships.

 Planning and Decision-Making - The individual will have a strong understanding of business planning, financial management and the key drivers for success. The candidate will have excellent prioritizing and organizational skills, holding self and others accountable for results.  The successful candidate has the ability to follow through on difficult decisions while being objective and fair in assessing different points of view.
