Reporting to the Manager, Mining this key position requires a dynamic individual with extensive experience in the underground mining industry with operations at a remote site. This position will identify, review and implement suitable productivity improvements, lead mining operations projects, develop and enhance Mining operations systems and liaise closely with the Technical Services Team with respect to mine planning and design to ensure the success of the mine.

Responsibilities for the Mine Optimization engineer:

• Coordinating and completing simulation studies of Truck, LHD, Jumbo, and Bolter fleets to confirm productivities of current plan and alternate mining scenarios;
• Measuring and implementing efficiency improvements;
• Implement methodology to ensure sustainable mining to plan and design;
• Working with operating team to develop methods and techniques for measuring and
controlling mining dilution;
• Working closely with other departments to identify opportunities that will improve processes and the overall achievement of company objectives.
Requirements
Requirements for the Mine Optimization engineer:


• The successful candidate will possess a degree in mining engineering and have a minimum of 5 years experience in a fully mechanized underground mining operation including development, production and construction activities.
• The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, along with a solid knowledge of budgeting and cost control measures.
• Demonstrated business acumen
