Name and description of hiring department:
Bell Canada’s Network Operations and Field Services team is responsible for delivering services to Voice, SMB and Enterprise market customers.

Job duties/accountabilities:
The Business Technician 1 – Outright Sales LAN/WAN is responsible for delivering services to Voice, SMB and Enterprise market customers at the level of installing and repairing network systems and applications (application servers, switches, routers and other network equipment) for business customers.

The technician will implement, upgrade, repair in the event of an outage for the router and switch systems of our large business customers. To ensure customers are satisfied, the technician will independently coordinate activities surrounding the installation of new products and services, in close collaboration with the Sales teams and in keeping with the team’s mandate.

The successful candidate will:
- Ensure adherence to each customer’s maintenance agreement.
- Escalate any event beyond his/her control to the support teams.
- Perform maintenance and upgrades on operating software and hardware.
- Maintain relations with customers and various groups within Bell Canada.
- Manage his/her time in such a way as to maximize revenues and minimize expenses.
- Be able to keep up with emerging telecommunications technology.
- Adept at managing large-scale projects.

The technician could also be assigned to other tasks that are usually done by a Business Technician 1 LAn-Wan. He may also be assigned customer on site.

Essential qualifications/competencies:
- Basic understanding of the outside plant.
- Valid IP certification (CCNA, CCNP) or in the certification process.
- Work experience with one of the following products: Router, Cisco, Nortel, Juniper switches.
- Basic understanding of LAN and WAN network design, security solutions, VPN, wireless and VOIP.
- Basic understanding of VMWARE and IBM, HP server products.
- Hold a valid driver’s licence class 5 (Québec).
- As required to meet customer’s needs, agree to undergo a background security check.
- Ability to climb telephone poles as well as climb ladders and carry them over long distances.
- Capable of differentiating coloured wires (colour code) and working in confined spaces.
- DCS in electronics or telecommunications or equivalent work experience.
- French 5-5-5; English 3-3-3.

Working conditions:
The candidate may be called upon to work variable schedules according to business needs, to participate in a standby program and to work overtime as needed. Flexible about the work schedule.
