Cargill is a large and reputable food company with operations around the world. Cargill Value Added Meats - Foodservice operates a chicken processing plant in London, Ontario and a hatchery in Jarvis, Ontario. The processing plant employs approximately 900 employees and processes 85,000 chickens each day. The hatchery has approximately 70 employees and, on average, produces 150,000 chicks per day. Cargill Value Added Meats - Foodservice operates ground beef processing facilities in Brampton, Ontario and Spruce Grove, Alberta employing approximately 130 employees.

Position Overview: 
As the Sanitation Supervisor reporting to the Sanitation Manager, you will be responsible for supervising your area to ensure the manufacturing of company products are completed in a safe and sanitary manner with emphasis on safety, quality, productivity, environmental awareness, and customer satisfaction.  You will also be responsible for the daily supervision of the sanitation stakeholders including safety, training, engagement, and performance management.

Principal Accountabilities: 

40% - Supervision and Operational Excellence  - Lead the crew by providing assistance and direction, communicating operational priorities and procedures, and maximizing efficiency and productivity while maintaining appropriate staffing levels in a unionized environment

30% - Food Safety and People Safety - Promoting a culture of people and food safety by championing best practices in these areas and ensuring accountability and adherence to Cargill’s programs and the Occupational Health and Safety Act

20% - Engagement and Development of Stakeholders – Train and motivate employees to drive maximum efficiency, productivity, food safety and quality, and engagement.  Acts a resource for employees through coaching, investigating and following up on employee issues 10% - Other projects and activities as assigned

Skills:
Required:
Post-secondary education
1 year of previous supervisory experience
Familiarity plant manufacturing equipment
Working knowledge of HACCP and WHIMIS
Ability to work various shifts
Ability to lead a team and provide direction
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis
 Preferred:
Degree or diploma in Agriculture or Food Science
Supervisory experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
Experience in Sanitation processes preferred
Mechanical aptitude is an asset
