Benefits Administrator

Toronto, ON (Don Mills/Eglinton)

Full-Time, Permanent



Managing the day-to-day administration of assigned groups, including enrolments, terminations, changes, billings, claims and processing of member updates through benefits administration system.

Verifying and processing eligibility information received from client’s employees using internal databases in accordance with the plan’s business rules within the established turn around times

Validating member eligibility for insurance carriers

Liaising with internal business partners and client administrators concerning the administration of client benefit plans

Verifying insurance carrier’s file extracts to troubleshoot feed issues

Calculate and process manual adjustments when required

Monitoring shared mailbox for internal and external inquiries, logs client information (telephone calls or e-mails) into in-house software, follows up as required

Draft correspondence, sends forms and standard letters to employees; upon receipt reviews, processes and logs information.

Monitoring various reports, including transaction report to validate against input into database

Responding to our clients’ need regarding group benefit insurance

Attending internal training sessions to build knowledge of industry topics and trends

Liaising with Plan Administrators, providing high touch customer service

Identifying process improvement opportunities within the team and assist with the creation of documentation

Peer reviewing work of other Benefit Administrators

Other duties and tasks as assigned by the supervisor

                

         Skills:       

•        Progressive Benefits Administration experience

•        Comprehensive understanding of group benefits and benefit legislation

•        Ability to work with high volumes of work with great attention to detail,

•        Excellent customer and communication skills – both verbal and in writing

•        Demonstrated judgment and decision-making skills

•        Flexible and responsive to customer needs

•        Responds to challenges and opportunities in a positive and productive manner

•        Takes personal accountability when acting on all client requests or issues

•        Strong team player

•        Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and customer service

•        Strong PC skills, knowledge of PC-based software ((Excel, Word and Windows)

 You’ll have a College degree, 2-4 years experience working in a customer-focused role in the group benefits industry, and possess excellent problem-solving, analytical and decision making, multi-tasking, organizational skills, along with a strong numerical aptitude, professional acumen and the desire to take the initiative in finding a solution.
