Position Overview:
The Department of Human Resources is currently seeking a Full-time Temporary Relief HR Administrator - Workforce for approximately 1 year.
The HR Administrator-Workforce position reports to the Manager, Workforce Administration in a high volume, highly specialized and complex area that requires thorough attention to detail as the impact of errors is high. Ensures complex issues are resolved using professional judgment; assists in initiating changes to procedures/practices/policies and ensuring integrity of service. The work is performed within a collaborative, service-oriented team environment that copes with the stresses of meeting deadlines for a large semi-monthly payroll. There is minimal supervision in this role and it requires broad knowledge and expertise in a unique field.
Position Description:
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Review work and audit reports, making corrections/adjustments in a timely fashion. May be responsible for reviewing work of other team members
- Investigate, evaluate, and provide solutions for all workforce related issues
- Accurate interpretation, calculation and processing of salary payments, benefits, leaves (paid and unpaid), sick leave, LTD, merit and across the board increases. Strong working knowledge of position management and workflow as it relates to all transactions
- Timely and accurate entry of data provided with a view to ensuring information is accurate, complete and compliant prior to and following input to ensure accurate recording and payment to all individuals
- The HR Workforce Administrator is responsible to run HR audits to ensure data is complete, correct and compliant
- Review of HR data must be done in a holistic approach in conjunction with Payroll to ensure the employee pay and reporting is correct overall. This requires a strong working knowledge of payroll administration, base benefits and accounting principles used at the University
- The HR Workforce Administrator is expected to investigate data and provide feedback to the applicable areas for knowledge transfer, understanding of business processes, and corrections as needed
- It is the responsibility of all HR Workforce Administrators to question data input and business practices with a view to streamline processes to achieve optimal results
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in related field (ie: Business Administration, Commerce, etc)
- 1 to 2 years experience working in Human Resources
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
- Knowledge of University core business systems (PeopleSoft HR, Payroll and Benefits) is an asset.
- Attention to detail, sound judgment skills, demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills are essential to deal with complex issues and concerns
- Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or as a member of the team
- Proven organizational and time management skills are necessary to set priorities and meet the commitments and timelines to ensure correct entry will result in correct payment being made to the individual. Must be able to prioritize workload within multiple deadlines
- Excellent communication skills are needed to report to and answer inquiries within the diverse community of the University
- Diplomacy is required at all times and confidentiality must be maintained

Additional Information:
This position falls under the Specialist/Advisor Job Family, Phase II, but is exempt from the AUPE bargaining unit.
