Do you have great customer service and like dealing with the public in a policing environment?
We are hiring for a few Auxiliary Front Counter Clerks to work at the Burnaby RCMP Detachment. 
This is a clerical, typing and call-taking operational shift work of some variety and complexity. 
This position answers incoming calls, provides information and assistance to the public and other agencies and relays emergency calls to appropriate contacts; handles complaints and inquires at the front counter; explains rules, regulations and procedures with prescribed limits;
checks and processes Motor Vehicle Act Notice and orders and Criminal Record Searches; receives firearms for destruction and disposal; types a variety of permits, records and reports; maintains and processes files regarding parolees;
processes and maintains files for found property and exhibits;
takes fingerprints of persons as required; operates PRIME and other related RCMP computer applications, cash register and related equipment and performs related work as required.

The hours of operation for the front counter are 08:00am to 08:00pm, 7 days a week and the ideal candidate will have open availability for on-call coverage (morning/afternoon shift) and have qualifications that include completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by criminology, psychology, effective communications or business management courses; ability to operate a computer terminal with speed and accuracy.
 An ability to operate PRIME and related RCMP computer applications, cash register and related equipment is preferred as is the ability to deal with the public courteously, firmly and tactfully, both on the telephone and at the counter with respect to a wide variety of complaints, problems and circumstances and to relay emergency situations to the appropriate contacts.
