BASF Canada Inc., a leader in the global markets of chemical manufacturing and distribution has an immediate opportunity for a contributing team player in Alberta for a Business RepresentativeReporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the Business Representative will:

Drive Accelerated Sales Growth
o Actively identify and call on growers to communicate the value of BASF’s new innovations, focusing on the benefits of using BASF crop protection products and services.
o Develop a value based sales strategy for each customer based on their unique needs, interests and business goals and objectives resulting in a customized solution.
o Meet or exceed innovation sales goals with grower customer base.
o Development and implementation of a territory business plan.
o Execution of retailer and grower segmentation and demand creation actions.o Ability to develop long-term business planning for growtho Deliver product performance service and support at grower and retailer level.
o Provide consistent and timely communication with distributor representatives.
o Clarify marketplace dynamics and trends with in-depth analysis and review.
o Compile bi-weekly reporting of market conditions to identify opportunities, emerging challenges and competitive activity.
o Manage expenses and resources in an effective, timely and ethical manner.
o Communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner across all levels of customer and internal organization.Innovation Leadership
o Partner with technical development specialists, area sales teams, retailers and channel partners to be the growers’ innovation product expert.
o Develop business strategies and tactics that meet the needs of targeted growers including developing short and long term action plans to anticipate and respond to market dynamics.
o Educate retailers, channel partners and growers on the use of new innovationso Position new innovations and communicate value messages to retailers, channel partners and targeted growers.
o Technically competent on innovative BASF brands
o Bachelor Degree in Science (such as Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology), Business or related field
o Minimum of 2 – 5 years relative selling or technical background within an Ag related field such as seed, chemical, equipment or crop consulting.
o Proven success with large growers.o Strong inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to develop strong, successful business relationships with customers as well as internal teammates.
o Ability to self-manage time and resources and to allocate time and energy appropriately, resulting in achievement of goals.o Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
o Willingness to travel overnight/weekly.o Passionate about making a difference in the agriculture industry.
o Current Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) or Pest Control Advisor (PCA) qualification desirable or willingness to obtain.
