Candidates must be able to work office hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Manitoba Tax Assistance Office administers tax credit and related programs that benefit approximately 500,000 Manitobans annually. This office provides general information and handles inquiries on Manitoba income tax, property taxes and related tax credits as well as assisting Manitobans to complete the provincial portion of the personal income tax return.

Qualifications:
The following are essential criteria:

    Experience with income tax preparation.
    Knowledge and/or experience with interpreting the Manitoba Income Tax Act (specifically Manitoba tax Credits and Manitoba Income Tax).
    Ability to effectively deal with the public including confrontational clients.
    Demonstrated accuracy and ability to pay attention to detail.
    Effective organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
    Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
    Excellent written  and oral communication skills demonstrating the ability to present complex information in a way that is easily understood by the general public and experience with report writing.
    Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive material in a confidential and professional manner.
    Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Access and Excel.

The following criteria are considered desired:

    Experience collecting unpaid debts and establishing client payment schedules.
    Knowledge and understanding and/or experience with Manitoba property taxes – including those of the City of Winnipeg and rural Manitoba.
    Demonstrated french communication skills, (oral and written).

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Duties:
As an active member of the Tax Assistance Office team, the incumbent administers, maintains and analyzes the tax credit and related programs.
