Position Overview:
As the Night Shift Production Supervisor at the hatchery in Jarvis, ON, you are responsible for providing direct supervision to the night production crew to support the efficient production of quality poultry products.

Principal Accountabilities:
50% - Direct Supervision - Oversee the day to day operations of the shift Production crew and serve as the main Management contact and resource for all other departments working on the night shift. Ensure the crews are adequately scheduled to complete the work. Meet on a regular basis to convey instructions and information. Outline expectations and administer disciplinary actions as necessary. Ensure consistency in application of corporate Human Resources programs, policies, rules and regulations.
15% - Stakeholder, engagement and development - Assist in the recruitment, selection and training of departmental stakeholders. Coach, mentor and lead each department with employee relations issues, performance management, career development and building engaged teams.
15% - Safety - Maintain total awareness of, and ensures compliance with, Occupational Health & Safety Act and Company Health & Safety policies, in addition to our Corporate policies. Ensure all accidents and incidents are investigated and corrective actions / preventative measures are implemented. Active participant in the joint health and safety committee. Create an environment where stakeholders work toward a culture where zero injuries are possible.
10% - Quality & HACCP - Oversee all aspects of the Production process. Ensure all HACCP paperwork is completed in a correct and timely manner within all critical limits and that all monitoring steps within these related departments are completed. Perform periodic Supervisor verifications and monitoring steps as outlined in the food safety plan.
10% - Administration - Generate documents, reports and correspondence. Ensure documents are accurate and filed or circulated in a timely manner. Schedule and manage staff meetings and employee training sessions. Ensure all computer records are maintained with appropriate reports generated.

Skills:
Required:

    Post-secondary degree or diploma of related discipline
    Strong verbal and written skills
    Proven ability to manage conflict with strong problem solving skills
    Able to adapt to work in various work conditions ( noise, odours, dust, fumes, wet/damp, chemicals).
    Must be flexible with schedule of working hours and workdays including being available at any time throughout the day for sudden call ins
    Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis

Preferred:

    Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in a fast paced production setting
    Post-secondary degree in food, animal, or poultry science or other related field
    Working experience in a modern hatchery setting or in live animal production
    Knowledge of HACCP
    Proven knowledge of WHMIS or other chemical safety training
