JOB PROFILE:We are seeking a Research Scientist to join our R&D team in Guelph, Ontario. Nutreco Canada Agresearch has excellent multispecies animal research facilities, research laboratories and significant collaboration with external industry and University partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Manage the day to day research as part of the ruminant research team including protocol writing, statistical analysis, report writing and presentation of results;
    Manage multi-disciplinary research projects;
    Develop novel techniques for answering research questions and educate research technicians in their use;
    Generate new project ideas through interaction with colleagues in commercial and scientific environments;
    Develop strategies for improving mathematical model accuracy and applicability;
    Participate in Nutreco Canada’s Ruminant Technical Team which support national technical transfer and marketing goals;
    Present results at internal and external scientific and farmer meetings;
    Maintain and build a network of professional contacts through participation in industry and scientific associations.

PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA:
    PhD in Animal Science or related discipline;
    Research experience in ruminant nutrition;
    Background and interest in calf nutrition, physiology and gut health;
    An intense competitive edge; action-oriented;
    Superior planning and Project Management skills;
    Superior written and verbal skills in English;
    Ability to function as a team player with minimal supervision;
    Strong interpersonal, negotiation, time management and organizational skills;
    Eligibility for NSERC funding.
