Role Summary/Purpose:
Responsible for loss recovery efforts on assigned portfolio with minimal supervision, maximizing recoveries on written off accounts with outsourced collection agencies and outside legal counsel. Responsible for managing files in bankruptcy, Receivership and CCAA status, ensuring timely resolution of all matters and optimal recovery of losses.
Essential Responsibilities:
Review assigned portfolio to ensure timely identification and resolution of accounts in Bankruptcy, Receivership, CCAA status.
File proof of claims with Trustees, ensuring proper release of security, maximizing recovery.
Analyze deficiencies on written off accounts, assigning accounts to outsourced collection agencies, negotiating and approving settlements.
Recommend and/or approve proposed terms for extensions/modifications of accounts, negotiating terms with customers, assessing the customer’s financial ability to maintain payments.
Process Transfers & Assumptions, analyzing legal relationships between business entities, assessing financial position and ability for companies to assume and maintain payments.
Identify areas of opportunity for automation and training to Collections Team, monitoring portfolio performance, identifying early warning triggers and trends.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bilingual (French & English)
Bachelor's Degree (or higher) and 5+ years of collection experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access
Excellent organization and computer skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent negotiation skills
Conflict Resolution
Ability to work with limited direction
