Job Overview
As a Senior Information Security Specialist (Technology), you will join CIBC’s Technology department to provide leadership for the provision of technical expertise in development and support activities, processes, procedures and tools for protecting information security.


Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Security Technology & Projects
    Research and develop designs options which can support robust security technology solutions, taking into account the user requirements and technical requirements

    Security Technology experience designing and implementing solutions for large organizations – i.e. Financial sector

    Extensive experience in the design and implementation of enterprise security solutions – IDS / IPS, SIEM, Content Filtering and inspection solutions

    Act as the technical execution lead for security projects as defined by the business requirements and project scope.

    Direct the review, development, testing and implementation of security plans and technologies.

    Experience providing security and technical subject matter expertise into security project business cases, technical use cases and technical designs.

    Lead the evaluation of new and proposed security systems and technologies.

    Lead the definition, support and implementation of secure configurations for technology solutions delivered.

    Weigh business needs against security concerns and recommend necessary changes to enhance information systems security.

    Provide hands on execution  of project deliverables, including working within a matrix environment to achieve these outcomes

Security Technology Consulting
    Lead analysis with technology groups to review requirements, conduct research, to come up with options to meet these requirements

    Provide subject matter expertise for minimum security hardening requirements for IT systems.

    Researching, designing and implementing security monitoring capabilities to support technologies implemented as required.

    Security product and capability analysis – Research

    Security and IT Standards, Procedures, Policies--Knowledge and ability to provide guidance and leadership during updates and enhancements to Security Standards, processes, procedures etc.

    Information Security Management--Knowledge of processes, tools, techniques and practices for assuring adherence to standards associated with accessing, altering and protecting organizational data.

    Information Security operational experience is desirable

Job Requirements

    Knowledge and ability to use and administer the organization’s security practices, standards and procedures

    Knowledge and experience with Information Security Management and the IT Industry

    Must have knowledge of technologies and technology-based solutions dealing with information security issues

    Proven consulting experience, with excellent communication skills

    Excellent decision making and critical thinking skills

What We’re Looking For

    Successful candidates must exhibit CIBC’s values of trust, team work, and accountability

    Must have Bachelors or equivalent degree in Computer Science or related field

    Must have previous experience supervising a team

    Must have at least 6 years of experience as an Information Security Specialist or similar role

    Knowledge and extensive working experience in:

        IT Industry: Trends & Directions - Knowledge and understanding of marketplace experience, developments and trends related to the Information Technology (IT) function.

        Information Security Technologies - Knowledge of technologies and technology-based solutions dealing with information security issues.

        Information Security Management - Knowledge of processes, tools, techniques and practices for assuring adherence to standards associated with accessing, altering and protecting organizational data.

        IT Standards, Policies and Policies - Knowledge and ability to use and administer the organization's technology practices, standards and procedures.

        Consulting - Knowledge of techniques, roles, and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients, both internal and external; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
