Summary of responsibilities
The primary project will be to support the Regulatory Systems Program.
The focus of this program is to develop in house solutions to meet customer needs in the Regulatory Environment.
The development will be done with internal and external resources with short development cycles.
Prototyping, Iterative Development are the preferred methodologies.
Our client is looking for someone with strong relationship skills and customer focus with keeping on track with budget, scope and delivery.
Deliverables:
The Project Manager will be responsible for deliverables for the Regulatory Systems Program. This includes, but is not limited to:
Manage and oversee project delivery to completion.
Agree and capture project success criteria and ensure they are understood by all stakeholders
Agree and capture project scope, goals and deliverables in alignment with business goals
Develop project Plans, Project Schedule, Work Breakdown Structure and other documents as required
Communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner
Make recommendations
Manage project budget, including resource and budget estimation and provide financial reporting
Maintain a project management plan
Project change control and scope management
Change management planning and execution in accordance with standards
Identify and manage project risk, dependencies and critical path
Develop Risk Management plan and manage risk to reduce exposure
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts that threaten project success
Effectively apply methods, processes and standards
Provide weekly status reports, and as requested
Provide coaching, mentoring and supervision of project team personnel
Build and develop business relationships with project stakeholders
Execute knowledge transfer in accordance with the approved plan
Other deliverables as required
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Our client requires the services of a Project Manager for managing and delivering the overall project(s) and its deliverables by acting as the single point of contact for the project, controlling the planning and executing of project activities and resources to ensure the established scope, budget, time and quality goals are met as dictated by the project objectives defined
The Project Manager is initially assigned to the Regulatory Systems Program ; pending other business requirements, the Project Manager may be assigned to manage other projects for the Information Systems and Services branch.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Prepare project plans comprised of appropriate levels of analysis to identify all the products, and activities to deliver them. Plans should also identify project budgets, broken down into the levels required to manage the budgets effectively using earned value techniques
Manage and monitor the Project Plans to ensure successful completion of the planned activities, and deliver the project on schedule
Develop and maintain a risk management plan and risk log
Assign, manage and track actions to members of the team
Monitor and manage the budgets to ensure projects stay within budget.
Create appropriate progress reports and distribute them on the agreed timeframes
Present to senior management status reports from conception to delivery of projects as when needed.
Pro-actively manages risks, issues, changes and quality, including escalation to senior management when delivery dates are in question.
Communicate with business partners to ensure smooth delivery of tasks
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Project Manager leading Software Development projects. Experience in the Alberta Oil and Gas industry would be an advantage.
Proven track record in delivering IT projects on time, on budget and managing within scope
Advanced project management practical expertise across knowledge areas: scope, time, cost, quality, human resource, communication, risk, and procurement and integration management.
Strong experience with Microsoft Office and Windows.
Excellent oral and written communications skills in order to clearly and effectively convey concepts, issues, reports, and other deliverables to counterparts and management.
Experience on Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Project methodologies
Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams including solution architects, Business Analysts, developers, QA testers and business partners
Self-starter, highly motivated individual, and a team player who adapts to a dynamic work environment
Open attitude towards and ability to learn and utilize new technologies and standards.
PMP Designation would be considered an asset
