Opportunity :
Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the Logistics and Commodity Supervisor is accountable for vessel fluidity at the terminal. In this role the L&C Supervisor will work with the railcar pipeline and terminal shipping to ensure that the vessel berthing, loading and shipping opportunities are maximized.

Accountability:
This position has four primary functions. Management of the Car Allocations to the Terminal, Management of Vessel Fluidity, Management of Special Contracts and Byproduct Sales and ensures ISO Quality Systems are followed.

In managing Car Allocations, he/she ensures that all cars are authorized before unload and manages the supply chain in conjunction with the Grain Logistics Manager. In particular, is responsible for last mile prioritization of arrivals and dealing with associated local railway communications and/or issues in such a way that unnecessary demurrage is avoided and that shipments are made according to schedule and maintained in accordance with goals and objectives. Maintains strong records to account for demurrage and initiate accruals as required.

Management of Vessel Fluidity is required to ensure that the terminal remains and operates in the most efficient way possible. Matching of terminal stock and inbound cars to inbound vessels, setting pilots to allow maximum efficiency in regards to loading vessels, while being aware of vessel seniority, demurrage, overtime, and long term benefit to Cargill.

Primary person responsible for Special Handling contracts and will make the decisions as to whether or not the terminal is capable of meeting the contract. Working with Logistics Administrators to ensure that byproduct inventories and sales are managed to extract market value for the byproducts.

Maintaining records and compliance to our ISO Programs and keeping all documentation up to date. This also includes documenting and maintaining metric calculators for tracking various areas.

Supervises one or possibly two Logistics Administrators, while performing performance management process (PMP) reviews. Responsible to mentor and develop the next group of senior managers for the terminal.

Working Conditions:
5 day work schedule with possible weekends and on call or shift work in office/plant. May be very stressful.


Skills:
Required:

    Must have knowledge of export shipping
    Strong focus on safety
    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    Demonstrated ability to be a contributing team member.
    Strong customer service orientation.
    Completion of a University/ College degree/ diploma
    Good working knowledge of grains acquired through practical experience as well as training.
    Strong problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
    Mechanical aptitude.
    Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis

Preferred:

    Strong understanding of Canadian Grain Act, Canadian Grain Regulation and Canadian Grain Commission Grading
    Knowledge of shipping processes, including inventory and stock management
    Completion of a University/ College degree/ diploma with Terminal Operations Experience or Grade 12 with extensive Terminal Operations experience
    CITT designation
