Cargill AgHorizons is the division of the company dedicated to creating value for agricultural producers, specifically grain and oilseed growers in the Prairies and Ontario.
This division leads the industry in providing innovations in the areas of grain origination, agronomic and grain marketing consulting, and crop input supplies.
Professionally trained customer focus teams work one-on-one with their producer customers, building long-term relationships-striving to understand their farming business and providing distinctive solutions, matched to their unique needs.

Position Purpose:

As the Regional Agronomy Manager, you will be accountable for the success of the Agronomic Services product line within the region.
Working with the Sales and Consulting Manager, you will provide support and coaching to the Agronomists and to the rest of the sales and consulting teams. Through coaching and providing technical support and education, you will increase the team's ability to sell and profitably grow the Agronomic Services product line.
You will also be responsible for providing the necessary tools and training to the Agronomists required to deliver Agronomic Services to farm customers including the execution of core product deliverables such as pre-season crop planning, in season field scouting and crop protection recommendations, and Variable Rate Technology services.

Principal Accountabilities:

40% - Lead the strategic direction and commercial management of the Agronomic Services product line including participating in the development of the National Agronomic Services Strategy and working with regional management to develop tactics to be implemented in their respective regions; profitably grow and achieve the financial targets (revenue and P&L) of the Agronomic Services product line; continually evaluate and identify farm customer needs; and work with the National Agronomy Manager to align product offerings and pricing levels with a balanced "cost to serve" ratio to ensure profitability for Cargill while creating value for the farm customer

40% - Provide coaching and technical support to the Agronomists including ensuring they are technically equipped to deliver products and meet customer expectations; partnering with the Sales and Consulting Manager, assist in the coaching of the Agronomists and location teams on how to sell products by discovering customer needs; communicating Agronomic Services product line updates including product enhancements, product launches, pricing strategies, etc.; maintaining brand integrity and improving customer retention by ensuring consistent processes and program deliverables are executed against in order to continually meet customer expectations; enabling growth through the sharing of best practice across territory teams

20% - Through a dotted line reporting structure, provide leadership and support to the Agronomists including providing consultative input on the development and assistance in the execution of Talent Management strategies (e.g. recruitment, training, development, retention and engagement); provide assistance in performance management coaching alongside the Sales and Consulting Manager

Skills:

Required:
    University or college degree or diploma or equivalent work experience
    Strong understanding of Agronomic Services, farm customers and the agriculture industry
    Strong understanding of the crop inputs business and the significance of supplier relationships
    Demonstrated ability in sales, marketing and brand management
    Eligible for P. Ag. and CCA certification
    Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
    Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis
