Position Overview:
As the Production Supervisor at our farm service centre in McLennan, AB, you will be accountable to the Plant Manager to lead critical processes and systems for the operation of a grain and/or crop inputs facility by ensuring and building a world class culture around Operational Excellence and the core impact areas: Risk Management, Operational Effectiveness, Capital Effectiveness, Reliability Excellence and Talent Management.
You will plan and execute physical operations on a daily basis to ensure that Cargill standards, Operational Excellence Scorecard Factors, and customer needs are met. You will also be responsible for direct supervision of the Operations staff at the location.

Principal Accountabilities:
40% - Plant Operation and Risk management - Supervise, lead and engage the production team on a daily basis for overall efficient plant operations; plan and implement Operational Excellence processes with the production team to create a safe environment to achieve production goals; assist the Plant Manager in a variety of audits including: grain and/or crop inputs, food safety, environmental health & safety, security and ISO/HACCP; conduct regular plant inspections and hold monthly safety meetings with staff to review procedures and safety awareness issues and adhere to all aspects of Provincial/Federal regulatory and Cargill compliance programs; operate machinery to receive and ship grain and/ or crop input products to the required specifications in a timely manner; assist in the buying and shipping programs by working closely with the Plant Manager, Production Supervisor and carriers (rail or truck); assist the Plant Manager in managing the location grain and/or crop inputs inventory to minimize inventory losses

30% - Talent Management - Manage, coach, develop and train Operation employees within the location to achieve Talent Management goals; assist the Plant manager with scheduling to ensure staffing levels are appropriate at all times and that seasonal staff have proper training and guidance

30% - Reliability Excellence and Capital Effectiveness - Operate assigned area of the facility within operating budget with appropriate planning and organizing; assist the Plant Manager with preparing capital and Maintenance & Reliability budgets; supervise and ensure work orders are completed by contractors within safety and quality specifications; ensure plant operators are trained to operate plant equipment efficiently and effectively


Skills:

Required:
    Minimum 2 years experience in an agricultural service business environment
    Minimum 1 year supervisory experience
    Ability to effectively lead a team of diverse employees with demonstrated leadership skills
    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    Strong problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills
    Ability to manage compliance with Environment, Health & Safety and Operations standards and regulations
    Ability to facilitate training
    Ability to perform physical tasks that require climbing, lifting, pushing, and pulling from heights and varying climate and environment conditions
    Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis

Preferred:
    Related post-secondary education or training
    Knowledge of inventory control, quality management, operating efficiency and budget management
    Agricultural experience or specialized knowledge of grain and crop input products and grain handling
    Knowledge of managing capital projects
    Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate, service, and troubleshoot machinery
