The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 graduate or equivalent required
- Graduate of a recognized Medical Office Administration program preferred
Skill, Ability and Experience:
- Knowledge of medical terminology required
- Fast accurate Keyboarding skills required
- Intermediate level proficiency using the MS Office Suite of products required
- Numerical ability to compile, interpret and utilize statistical data required
- Recent experience as a Medical Secretary is preferred
- Experience and Knowledge of Shorthand preferred
- Ability to transcribe from a recording machine and record minutes of meetings preferred
- Recent O.H.I.P. billing experience preferred
- Familiarity with the Mental Health Act and the Forms that are utilized preferred
Principle Duties:
- Completes reception and clerical tasks applicable to the needs of the department
-Transcribes dictation from recording machine on a daily basis
-Maintains Departmental and Ministry statistics
-Submits O.H.I.P. Billing and Statements of Account to proper areas
-Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
-Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
-Other related duties as assigned
