The Reporting Team Supervisor will be responsible to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of operational and management reports for all departments within Accounting Services including Sales Support, Accounts Payable, Payroll & Variable Compensation and Credit and Collections. The Supervisor will take ownership of designated tasks and projects within the Reporting Group. As changes may be necessary to the process, the Supervisor works with other affected departments and stakeholders to establish a logical process. This may include systems changes, system issues, as well as system testing. The Supervisor communicates and ensures training of all staff involved in the process on new policies and procedures, as well as provides periodic review sessions of existing policies. As needed, the Supervisor supports staff on process related issues.
The Supervisor assists employees with career progression plans, provides periodic feedback, assigns responsibilities and is responsible for making decisions that affect the team. The Supervisor balances the workload between team members, and assigns tasks according to identified strengths and areas of interest, while providing them with the tools and training needed to complete assigned tasks. The position will provide detailed reporting and analysis based on the transactions processed. The individual will have a proven track record that demonstrates strong ability to analyze large data sets and clearly communicate financial information.
What you will do:
Analysis of complex data and processes to support timely and effective decision making.
Frequent interaction with business partners to develop a clear understanding of business requirements and issues.
Responsible for the financial understanding of all departmental functional requirements necessary for internal and external reporting.
Further support to the corporate accounting function will be provided in the preparation and compilation of information and reporting for executive management.
Documenting of report generation and process controls as related to SOX certification.
Coordinate special projects that will assist in large part to greater efficiencies of reporting and analysis.
Continually seek to improve processes and systems to ensure they remain efficient and effective in providing best in class support to Open Text’s operations.
Perform ad-hoc assignments and tasks as assigned by management.
Responsible for staff development and performing semi-annual and annual reviews.
Position Requirements:
3+ years of related accounting/finance experience. – 3 – 5 years of experience in a supervisory position.
An individual who has a business or accounting related university degree or an accounting designation is preferable. An individual who is currently pursuing an accounting designation may be considered. – Strong analytical skills. – Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail. – Business focus, initiative and/or knowledge of implementing (process) changes. – Organized with an ability to balance multiple projects in a fast paced environment. – Software industry experience is an asset. – Experience with ERP system(s); Great Plains, Salesforce.com and SAP. – Strong computer skills with the ability to analyze large data sets. – High degree of skill with Microsoft Excel and Access.
