Primary Focus:
Supervise and provide direction to Technical Standards Team of roughly 3 FTE positions, 1 Co-op position, 2 provisional contract positions and 2 non-provisional contract positions.

Develop and coordinate the work of the Technical Standards team within Engineering Management / Operations Engineering.

Develop the proposals to update, and maintain Enbridge’s engineering design standards, equipment and construction specifications, and typical design details.

Develop and update Technical Standard’s processes and procedures.

Provide technical support related to engineering design standards and specifications.

Responsibilities:
End Result – Administration of Technical Standards team is aligned with HR and Company Policies.

Achieved through:
Understanding and applying HR and company policies; including e-Performance, individual development plans, eLms development, safety training, timesheets review and approval.

Developing resource plan and implementing recruitment activities.

Developing and maintaining operating cost budgets.

Managing and approving Contractor work orders and invoices.

End Result – Technical Standards team is successful in the area of operation.

Achieved through:
Developing and coordinating group’s activities and assigning workloads.

Coaching, mentoring, training, and motivating group members.

Ensuring that organizational objectives are translated into the group’s activities.

Ensuring integration with other groups within the department.

End Result – Technical Standards team processes and procedures are developed and current.

Achieved through:
Coordinating/leading group’s processes and procedures through the planning, review, development and approval process.

Troubleshooting group’s existing processes and procedures, and applying specialized expertise towards continuous improvement.

End Result – Engineering design standards and specifications are current.

Achieved through the planning, review, development and updating of current engineering design standards and specifications by:

Developing yearly plans to manage resources and schedule.

Developing and managing operating cost initiative of $1mm to review and update standards.

Coordinating/leading standards through the review, development and approval process.

Applying specialized expertise towards continuous improvement.

Involving stakeholders in the review process and obtaining their input, and investigating and linking MP and LP safety and design learning’s with standards and specifications.

End Result – Engineering design standards, specifications and group’s processes are available and familiar.

Achieved through:
The promotion of the appropriate use of standards and specifications, and the delivery of the education and training of project teams, engineering, subject matter experts, and stakeholders on standards and specifications’ requirements and processes.

End Result – Support EPI/EEP Stakeholders and Technical Standards Team Members.

Achieved by:
Promptly responding to queries and change requests.

Providing technical support related to area of specialized expertise to internal/external stakeholders.

Leading and developing venues to communicate to appropriate stakeholders.

Developing and implementing efficient work processes to ensure high team performance, and fostering a culture that focuses on engagement, timely results and high quality work.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.

Professional Engineering designation with APEGA.

Minimum of 8 years of progressive technical engineering experience including 2 years experience of team leadership.

Ability to:
Understand and appreciate different perspectives.

Change/develop/plan new strategies in a dynamic environment to achieve desired goals.

Manage a diverse team of internal and external individuals with competing objectives.

Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills:
