4-H Ontario is seeking to fill the position of: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Executive Director has the strategic and operational responsibility to sustainably achieve the recruitment, retention, relationship, recognition and risk management objectives associated with the Four Strategic Elements of 4-H Ontario: Communications, Member Experience, Community Engagement and Financial Security.
These Strategic Elements support the organization’s drive to achieve its Vision which will be evidenced through relevant and measureable outcomes and impacts.
The successful applicant will be a self-starter with high energy, ability to manage and prioritize the objectives and tactics of a complex diverse organization committed to serving a highly valued and vulnerable sector (volunteers and youth), while keeping abreast of changes and anticipating outcomes.
Leading a province-wide staff team of 20 roles including 8 which operate from home offices, supporting volunteers, and two governance Boards, the role encompasses planning, management, and measured execution of approved plans and budgets for the Ontario 4-H Council and the Ontario 4-H Foundation.
This role works collaboratively with all members of the 4-H team toward ensuring a progressive and sustainable organization.
KEY SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND CHARACTERISTICS
- A minimum of 5 years of successful experience in a team environment, supervising managers.
- A minimum of 10 years successful work tenure with experience in social services, volunteer services, youth services, financial management, or other relevant fields is a strong asset
- Proven success in risk and crisis management
- Graduate degree (or equivalent tangible experience) in adult education, community development, volunteer development, business management or relevant area of study from a recognized University
- In depth experience in product and service development and delivery
- Practical knowledge and commitment to supporting volunteer and youth development and management
- Tangible experience in developing and supporting effective governance & policy development
- Transferable experience in growing an organization’s outcomes and impacts
The ideal candidate has proven excellence in:
- Team Builderand People management: relationship building skills
- Influential communications, including written, oral and multimedia to diverse stakeholders
- Management of self via execution of a weekly, quarterly & annual plan
- Strategic Planning, Operational Planning and Budget development
- Financial management
- Fundamentals of fundraising
- Conducting research in support of organizational change
- Planning, execution, measurement and evaluation
- Partnership development
- Conflict resolution within the organization
The candidate will also be able to show they are recognized and accomplished as:
- Detail, results and deadline driven
- Visionary and creative
- Able to develop and maintain a working knowledge of 4-H Ontario
- Proactive within the scope of their position, their team(s) and the 4-H Ontario program
- Bilingual capability (English and French) is an asset.
POSITION SPECIFICS:
This full time position is located at the 4-H Ontario office in Rockwoodand reports organizationally and operationally to the President, Ontario 4-H Council and operationally to the Chair, Ontario 4-H Foundation. Regular travel to various points in Ontario is required, occasional travel within and outside of Canada is required.
