Rogers Communications is seeking a Financial Analyst who will be based in Toronto and will provide their expertise in accounting and finance for the Communication Finance Group. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Analyst will be responsible for:
Analyze various Income Statement accounts monthly and prepare journal entries as required
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare journal entries as required
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational and departmental financial reports for approximately 300+ retail locations, using data from Essbase, Oracle and AS400 systems as required
Run queries in Oracle and upload data to Essbase database during the month-end processing
Produce Management reporting and analysis of key performance metrics to achieve strategic objectives
Prepare monthly Retail Financial Package for Senior Leadership
Support monthly P&L reviews by recapping results vs. plan and forecast
Prepare monthly variance reports and analysis
Generate 300 + store/area/region profit and loss statements
Partner with Store Operations on critical event reporting
Participate in driving continuous improvement in financial reporting
Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required by Senior Management and Retail Operations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; CGA, CMA designation preferred
- Advanced level of experience with ESSBase, Oracle required
- 3-5 years' experience with month-end (preparing journal entries and account reconciliations)
- Strong knowledge and proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Access
- Strong attention to detail & organizational skills
- Experience in a Telecom Retail environment preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with at all levels across the organization
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment and work extended hours (including weekends)
- Ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines
- Strong time management techniques
- Self-starter and ability to work independently
