Role Summary/Purpose:
Coordinate the design activities for a project (or proposal) throughout its lifecycle for safety and non-safety related systems for specific application within the nuclear industry.

Responsibilities of the engineer performing this role include setting the technical direction for the overall project and acting as the main technical interface point to both internal and external customers.
Essential Responsibilities: TECHNICAL

Define high level design requirements
Define and manage interfaces between discipline specific design areas (mechanical, I&C and software)
Provide leadership and direction of high level design activities in conjunction with the technical counselors
Make technical decisions on tradeoffs and alternative solutions ensuring that they meet the contractual requirements for the project
Provide technical coaching to individuals on the project team

PROCESS & PROCEDURES:
Define and communicate specific project Quality requirements including exceptions from standard departmental practice
Determine and document project deliverables, methods and limitations
Conduct Design Reviews as required during the project lifecycle

PROJECT EXECUTION:
Work closely with the other Team Leaders to execute the project plans across disciplines and ensure that there is proper communication of interface information between the disciplines.

DTL Responsibilities

GENERAL
Frequent interaction with external customers, subcontractors, and cross-functional internal teams
Qualifications/Requirements: B.A.Sc. in Engineering
Recognized DTL Qualifications
Min 5 years experience in design engineering
Experience with a broad range of interdisciplinary activities: system architecture, motion control, mechanical, I&C, process and software design, manufacturing, test and quality
Excellent written and oral communication skills, understandable by a diverse audience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Desired Characteristics: Holds a current PEO license Experience with requirements creation and how to manage them throughout the design process Familiar with Engineering processes including design and engineering change control Knowledge of safety issues specific to nuclear power plants especially systems that control, cool or contain fuel Self-starter and open to learning about new subject areas
