 Poultry Barn Technician – 12 Month Contract DIVISION: Nutreco Canada Inc. JOB PROFILE: The Poultry Barn Technician is responsible for the implementation of study protocols and the supervision of staff in the execution of poultry research studies. This role will be based out of our Nutreco Canada Agresearch animal facility in Burford, Ontario, and is a 12-month contract. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Management of all aspects of research study execution, including overseeing day-to-day data collection, and assisting in study activities as needed;
    Ensuring that all processes are executed as per protocol and facility SOP. On-the job S.O.P. training will be provided;
    Managing all day to day activities related to the care and rearing of poultry including observations, feeding, managing ventilation and temperature controllers, barn clean out and set up, as well as basic barn and equipment maintenance;
    Manage and complete all HACCP related paperwork for HACCP audits and maintain the poultry barns according to all HACCP regulations;
    Work with staff to review and upgrade facility SOPs as needed and create new SOP’s where required;
    Work as a team member in other departments on the farm as required including the swine, dairy, and S.E.W. units.

PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA:

    3-5 years’ experience working in/managing poultry barns;
    Preference will be given to applicants with an Agricultural Diploma or Degree;
    Mechanical aptitude an asset;
    HACCP and CFIA knowledge an asset;
    Proven ability to motivate and supervise others without direct managerial control;
    Fluent communication ability in oral and written English (French communication an asset);
    Basic computer skills including the ability to work with Microsoft Office and Excel;
    Ability to lift up to 25 kgs;
    Housing may be a possibility.
