Position Overview:
A regular position is available in the Information Technology Division, Business Analysis Services Team to participate in initiatives related to the design, development, and maintenance of business processes in support of business objectives of the IESO.

Business Processes under development span the business activities of the IESO.
General Accountabilities:
The accountabilities of an Engineer/Technical Officer include:
Participate in the design and life cycle management of business processes to enable efficient operation of the IESO Administered Markets, reliable operation of the electrical system (IESO controlled grid), and the efficient operation of the IESO Corporation.
Conduct projects that develop business processes or that relate to user requirements for information systems supporting business processes.
Contribute to client satisfaction and cooperative relations with technical staff, business owners, etc.
Identify potential advantages in developing business process solutions for business owners including recommendations for changes to existing processes and services.
Provide consulting support to clients and internal staff in search of business solutions.
Prepare business process, procedure, and other documents related to business analysis.
Participate in a team-based environment where co-development of business solutions and peer reviews are the norm.

Responsibilities Include:
Participate in the development and design of processes that support the needs of IESO Administered Markets, electricity system reliability, and the IESO Corporation. Assist in studies for the analysis of customer process betterments, the formation of functional specifications and the development of complete process solutions.
Participate in the management and evolution of existing processes for market operation, supply, security, and settlement services by contributing to enhancements that allow additional functionality, improved reliability or maintainability, and problem correction.
Develop a close relationship with customers to facilitate co-operation and mutual respect in relation to business analysis and the introduction of innovative business process improvements.
Identify opportunities for process solutions that will provide benefits for customers. Implement the overall solution in terms of business processes, communications, data sources, software tools, integration with existing functions, user interfaces, algorithms etc.
Develop strategic plans and standards.
Contribute with peers and associates to advance their learning and facilitate their problem solving skills within their respective area of expertise.
Provide project management support to projects or teams involved in the expansion and improvement in processes and tools.
Gain awareness of, and contribute to implementing industry best practices for business processes, applications, procurement, delivery, and maintenance.

Selection Criteria:
Requires a strong academic knowledge of business analysis and associated subjects, including a strong theoretical knowledge pertinent to the specialist areas of the technical or business operations of the electricity market and administration processes related to the power system delivery.
Education required is considered to be normally acquired either through the successful completion of a four-year University education in the appropriate field/discipline or by having the equivalent education.
Experience required includes some exposure to electricity system and market operations, settlements, and finance, as well as some exposure to IESO corporate functions and administrative processes.
Communication skills, including report writing and business presentation skills.
Facilitation skills required to effectively lead meetings and working groups.
Ability to complete work assignments as received from Team Lead with general discussion on special aspects as needed for the work to be performed.
Ability to apply knowledge, known approaches, and sometimes interpretative or uncommon operations to overcome or alleviate work problems.
Experience in working with others to explain recommendations or proposed additions, and provide advice and guidance.
Requires knowledge of project management practices and experience managing actual projects
A period of over eight years, up to and including ten years, is considered necessary to gain the required experience.
