Summary:
This position is the first level in the Software Quality Assurance Career Path. Incumbents in this position work as part of a project team to develop and deliver commercial software products for external and internal use. Incumbent has general knowledge and experience in IT and working knowledge of one or more technologies such as Web Services, Java, .Net, Graphical User Interface, spatial technologies or database technologies. Incumbent has knowledge across a spectrum of programming languages and techniques, testing methodologies, and applies both existing and new technologies in developing solutions.

General Job Duties:
Under guidance, participate as part of a project team to test and measure quality of products developed in support of the portfolio management process.
Use established testing procedures to ensure application is thoroughly tested throughout development and before release.
Provide input in establishing program and/or project budget and timelines.
Monitor and report to management on project status, identify issues that may impede attainment of project goals, recommend and implement corrective measures.
Continuously expand knowledge in area of specialization.
Perform other duties as required.

Specific Job Duties:
Attend the daily Scrum meetings and report on testing results, achievements and issues.
Install and maintain Web Applications, MS SQL 2008/2012 and Oracle 10g/11g database in Virtual Server instances to ensure the proper testing environments are updated and available at all times.
Perform manual testing as well as assist in coding automated scripts.
Assess merits of proposed product enhancements, and ease of use, providing feedback to Product Management.
Assist Technical Support with reproducing customer escalation issue.
Assist Development with verifying and releasing "Hot Fix" issues to Technical Support to address escalation issues.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience Requirements
Bachelors in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience.
4+ years of experience in software testing or software development.
Working knowledge of one or more high level programming languages.
Working knowledge of one or more technologies (e.g., Web, Java, .Net, Graphical User Interface, spatial technologies).
Working knowledge of one or more Automation or Performance Tools (e.g., WinRunner, Compuware, SOATest)
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to work effectively as part of a project/program team and foster team cooperation.
Understanding of the project management process.
Stays current with rapidly changing technology and applies it to business needs.
Must be able to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Professional certification as warranted.

Organizational Relationships:
At times, reports directly to senior Software Quality Assurance management.
Interacts with other colleagues at all levels in the conduct of day-to-day activities.

External Relationships:
Participates in meetings with customers to assess business needs.
Actively participates in industry forums and user groups.
