Project Overview:
This role is based in Calgary and reports in to VP Operations, Canada Delivery Unit. The incumbent will design the strategy, establish and be responsible for the Facility and Construction Engineering group of the Canadian Delivery Unit. The manager is accountable for defining the scope, cost, and schedule of infrastructure facilities projects in the Canadian Delivery Unit and subsequently for their safe construction within budget. Currently the Team Lead Tie Ins and Gathering and the Team Lead Plants report in to the position as would project managers for major projects.
Responsibilities:
Specific duties would include:
Overall accountability for safe work activities of the Facilities groups.
Integration of the Facilities group with the other functions within the Delivery Unit, such as Development, Production Engineering and Joint Ventures, to ensure the best decisions are being made for new infrastructure planning and the long term optimization of existing mature facilities assets.
Maintain design / operating philosophies for each of the main areas of operation in CDU.
Identify design standards to be utilized in CDU facilities to meet regulatory and business requirements.
Integration of the Facilities field activities with other field operations including drilling, completions, wellsite construction and production operations.
Implementation of the stage gate project management principles for CDU projects, striking the appropriate balance depending on project scale, risks and complexity.
Plan and recruit for the organizational structure needed to deliver the planned activities
Forecasting, budget creation and control of facilities capital expenditures, ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget.
Close coordination with Supply Chain Management to ensure that materials and labor are delivered effectively
Management of key contractors and vendors including engineering firms, construction contractors and equipment suppliers
Ensure proper facilities design processes are followed with adherence to best practices including drawing reviews, HAZOPs, risk assessments.
Drive business and safety improvement through performance measurement and review.
Close coordination with commercial and financial accounting to support financial reporting processes.
Working conditions: Calgary office based with trips to the field offices and construction locations as required
Candidate Profile:
The Facilities Manager will combine strong communication and interpersonal skills with a strong understanding of project management, facility design, construction and commissioning.
15 years operational experience, ideally with a significant proportion spent in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
Professional Engineer status in Alberta.
Proven ability to supervise and lead people with prior roles in supervisory positions.
Brownfield experience and experience working on a mature asset base.
Proven ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
