JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Lead Engineer in Secondary Upgrading, the Senior Instrumentation Engineer will ensure the reliability of process assets within the Cross Functional Team (CFT) to ensure safety, sustainability and profitability.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lead the implementation of overall reliability engineering services and programs for the Cross Functional team in the field Instrumentation
Develop and implement Cross Functional team asset equipment strategies and generation of work scopes for maintenance, repairs and modification of plant equipment
Optimize and implement preventative maintenance and reliability master data
Implement the Reliability Improvement Process including creation of the reliability improvement plans for CFT instrument Bad Actors
Effective application of Health Safety and Environmental standards reinforcing a culture of compliance to ensure the safety and health of all employees and contractors
Ensure compliance to all relevant external regulatory requirements
Ensure compliance to all relevant Suncor policies and standards – including Maintenance & Reliability, Technical, Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS), Process Safety, Management of Change (MoC) process

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Bachelor degree in Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering, with strong process engineering skills
Registered (or eligible) as a Professional Engineer with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
Minimum 10 years related maintenance, reliability and engineering experience (preferably in upgrading or oil refinery including processes such as Hydrotreaters, compressors, reformers, reactors and furnaces)
Experience with Honeywell DCS, Invensys Triconix Safety Systems, and Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs will be an asset

Skills and Knowledge:

Be well acquainted with CEC codes, classified area codes and specifications.
Proficient with SAP, Auto CAD and Microsoft Office, Smart Plant Instrumentation
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings such as PFD’s, P&ID’s, piping isometrics, electrical and mechanical drawings and single line drawings, etc. is highly desirable
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to build key relationships with stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to work within Cross Functional Team to produce desired outcomes, understanding technical issues and develop innovative solutions
Excellent knowledge of and experience with pro-active, predictive and preventative maintenance strategy development
Demonstrated use of key reliability processes such as Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Analysis (FA)

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Monday to Friday – 40 hour work week
This position is located at our base plant 25 km from Fort McMurray
Transportation to and from site is provided
This is not a camp position
