Based in Kingston, Ontario, you will be part of a vehicle design team and will be responsible for designing, implementing, selecting, and testing all requirements of the various sub-systems installed on board the trains designed in Kingston.
In your role you will:
- Evaluate of available and upcoming technology, supporting defining electrical requirements for the sub-systems;
- Create block diagrams and functional schematics, and sizing wiring, systems integration as well as interfacing with other engineers responsible for other sub-systems.
- Troubleshoot engineering design issues within the manufacturing environment, and communicating and coordinating the resolution of issues with the support of engineers from the various sites.
- Interact with suppliers and our Customers will also be a regular part of this position.
- Review Customer and internal specifications in order to define the electrical requirements for the sub-systems. This involves regular communication and interaction with other discipline engineers on both the vehicle and wayside, and with suppliers;
- You will be responsible for the evaluation of available and upcoming technology, supporting defining electrical requirements for the sub-systems,
- Write technical specifications;
- Support evaluation of the sub-systems suppliers and supplier’s proposals;
- Support development of the solutions for sub-systems that must meet the needs of the project;
- Stay up to date with current technology;
- Perform, design reviews, both internal and external;
- Review supplier’s documentation, witness qualification testing and interact with suppliers and our Customers;
- Prepare sub-systems block diagrams and functional schematics;
- Develop test procedures, perform tests and analyze results to prove compliance with all requirements.
Qualifications:
As our ideal candidate:
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering;
- You possess two to four (2 – 4) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer;
- You possess your PEO certification or eligible of obtaining your certification ;
- Your PLC programming and E3 drafting knowledge is a strong asset;
- Your English communication skills are excellent.
Additional Information: The incumbent of this position must be able for occasional traveling domestic or international.
