This position is responsible for servicing the transit vehicles. This position reports to the Supervisor of Maintenance and Equipment.

Note: Will be required to work non standard/evening shifts.

Typical duties include:

•     Performs vehicle servicing functions including fuelling, checking and correcting fluid levels, exterior and interior cleaning and washing, testing of auxiliary equipment and minor maintenance/repairing.
•     Inspects lights, general body condition, tires, wheels and windshield wipers, etc. and reports defects to the shift supervisor.
•     Performs general caretaking and housekeeping functions in department buildings.
•     Performs related duties as required.

Candidates will be screened on the following criteria:

•     Typically the knowledge, skills and abilities required are obtained through completion of Grade ten (10) as well as successful completion of the first year of any of the mechanical trades.
•     Must have or be willing to obtain a valid 1A driver’s license.
•     Must possess an approved, basic set of hand tools.
•     Knowledge of the general rules and regulations of the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual.
•     Ability to carry out work assignments in a safe manner.
•     Ability to maintain co-operative and harmonious working relations with other employees.
•     Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
•     Ability to effectively work in any of the technical trades within the department.
