Ernst & Young has a well established Climate Change and Sustainability practice to respond to our client’s growing need of guidance in this area, including greenhouse gas emission verification, assurance over sustainability-related data, strategy, life-cycle analysis and strategy. Responsibilities:
Take a lead role in supporting the Western Market Leader in our Climate Change and Sustainability practice in the Western provinces. Develop/maintain strong working relationships with key business decision makers to communicate value and inform them of the firm’s scope of services. Provide guidance/expertise in the delivery of our climate change and sustainability auditing and advisory services.
Working in a team environment, provide advisory and audit services related to sustainability focus areas including greenhouse gas. Assist clients in their efforts to identify, measure and appropriately manage the business and reporting risks that they face as they transition their organizations to respond to changing government environmental and greenhouse gas regulations.
Identify/communicate trends, developments, and key performance drivers relevant to the client. Demonstrate a deep understanding of the client’s industry and marketplace.
Develop people by encouraging individuals to think for themselves and take responsibility for their contributions to the team. Successfully delegate to all levels of staff. Conduct performance reviews, serve as a positive leader and mentor, and contribute to performance feedback/training. Foster teamwork and lead by example.
Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery. Maintain an educational program to continually develop skills. Maintain cooperative relationships with other engagement teams. Monitor the engagement team’s progress against the plan and alter it when needed.
Support client relationships, business development and account management leadership. Represent the practice in management forums and support the rapid, profitable growth of the business as a member of the management team.
To qualify for this highly visible position with excellent potential for career advancement, candidates must have:
*5 years of experience in a position focused on sustainability advisory and/or audit position for a public accounting firm or consulting practice, or particular business/industry experience to meet special needs
*Professional presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate expertise
*Ability to analyze complex or unusual issues in the context of client engagements and deliver insightful and pragmatic solutions.
*Ability to deal with ambiguity
*Ability to deal with complex issues and several moving parts and drive a process forward to a structured and logical outcome
*Ability to understand an issue and structure a logical stepped approach to both understand the issue, recommend and implement solutions
*Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
*A dedication to teamwork and leadership
*Ability to take a pragmatic approach to issues that underpin client relationships while demonstrating and living the firm’s values
*A graduate degree in business, engineering, environmental science and/or other appropriate academic major
*Management consulting experience would be an asset
*Energy and mining industry experience is strongly desirable
*Strong project management skills
Out-of-town travel, either domestically or internationally, is also required at least 20-30% of the time, on average.
